Gaaj has been built by Mr. Jitendra Joshi and his family. They are avid travelers who would explore new places and different activities. However, they often noticed that there were limited options for families to stay tastefully and at the same time enjoy the nuances and the core essence of Konkan. They eventually decided to bridge the gap and actioned their dream project with a lot of love. Gaaj has been built slowly and respectfully over time with extreme care and has maintained the sanctity of the environment.
Completely justifying the meaning of its name, Gaaj is the resounding echo of the sea waves. The reverberation of the tides acts as an auditory beacon to the soul. The pure sounds of nature bring with it a sense of exceptional belonging combined with uninterrupted ease.
The Gaaj resort is located at Palshet at about 12 km from Guhagar. It is stretched across an expanse of 8.5 acres. While the Gaaj resort was established in 2016, the only structure in the property at the time was a shed. The idea of introducing the world to this picturesque part of Konkan came to Mr. Jitendra Joshi after his family and friends spent a few days at the shed at Gaaj and had a marvelous and unique experience. First, the dormitories were built, and then the bamboo cottages. The first cottage was built in 2018 and many more are in the process of being constructed.
At Gaaj, you get the best of all the worlds. Right from dense jungles and waterfalls to rocky and sandy beaches, this resort has it all. Here, you can witness the merging of the river into the Arabian Sea. The red soil of the river flows into the sea and that creates the most beautiful natural hue. This coast of Konkan has a very rare charm. The air is crisp and a sweet natural fragrance of the sea floats all around. The beaches are ethereal and sometimes resemble a molten sapphire tint.
The property is rich in flora and fauna. Vanilla, coffee, cashew, and mango are some of the many varieties of trees that grow at Gaaj. A boulevard of betel nut trees cast a shadow on the paths running to each cottage. This decadent greenery across the resort brings you peace that is almost palpable.
Gaaj is also home to a few rescued animals. Our guard dogs, Speedy and Bolt are the chiefs of our security. Rocky is our happy and super friendly puppy who likes to prance around the resort. If you give him a belly rub once, we promise you, you’ve earned a job for life. We also have a few rescued cows named Kapila, Tara, and Shambhu. They are endearing and love to play with Rocky. We also have cats and rabbits who enjoy being pampered at our resort.
